Abstract:

This study conducted to determine the amount of the heavy metals such as Cd, Ni, and Pb in the muscle tissue of Hoof benthic fish (Psettodes erumei) and urban pelagic fish () in Qeshm Island in the north of the Persian Gulf. Overall, the heavy metal content Lethrinus nebulosus of 30 tissue samples was randomly measured by atomic absorption spectrometer. The mean amount of Cd (0.16+ 0.002 ) and Ni( 0.56+ 0.03 ) in benthic Hoof was significantly greater than that in the Urban pelagic fish while the concentration of (29.64+ 3.72) in urban pelagic fish was higher than that in the Hoof tissue samples (P<0.05). Our results showed that the concentration of the three measured heavy metals in the fishes studied was less than the standard levels proposed by WHO and FAO

Study on the parasites of Pseudorhombus elevatus, Psettodes erumei and Brachirus orientalis from the Persian Gulf, Iran

The Persian Gulf is of great economical, environmental and political importance, and includes around 205 species of fishes that only some of them have been studied parasitologically. From the order Pleuronectiformes ( ray-finned fishes), Psettodes erumei (Psettodidae), Pseudorhombus elevatus (Bothidae) and Brachirus orientalis (Soleidae) were selected for the survey. One hundred and forty eig...

Length weight relationship, condition factor and length at first maturity of Indian halibut Psettodes erumei in the Persian Gulf

Length weight relationship, condition factor and length at first maturity of Indian halibut Psettodes erumei were investigated in the Persian Gulf by monthly sampling of 30 fish from March to February 2012. Mean value of total length and weight were 38.68 ± 9.39 cm and 986.92 ± 756.79 gr, respectively. Maximum and minimum values of total length were in August (44.43 ± 6.37 cm) and March (23.27 ...
